Students grievance redressal cell: The College has a student’s grievance committee the functions of the committee are to look into the complaints lodged by any student and judge it merit .the grievance committee is also empowered to look into matters of harassment. Complaints an academic and non- matters.
The College has a Students' Grievance Redressal Committee. The functions of the Committee are to look into the complaints lodged by any student, and judge its merit. The Grievance Redressal Committee is also empowered to look into matters of harassment.
Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the Grievance Redressal Committee members in person. In case the person is unwilling to appear in self, grievances may be sent in writing. Grievances may also be sent through e-mail to the officer in-charge of Students' Grievance Redressal Committee or Principal.

OBJECTIVES:
The objective of the Grievance Redressal Commitee is to develop a responsive and accountable attitude among all the stakeholders in order to maintain a harmonious educational atmosphere in the institute.
A Grievance Redressal Committee has been constituted for the redressal of the problems reported by the Students of the College with the following objectives:
• Upholding the dignity of the College by ensuring strife free atmosphere in the College through promoting cordial Student-Student relationship and Student- teacher relationship etc.
• Encouraging the Students to express their grievances / problems freely and frankly, without any fear of being victimized.
• Suggestion / complaint Box have been installed in front of the Administrative Block in which the Students, who want to remain anonymous, put in writing their grievances and their suggestions for improving the Academics / Administration in the College.
• Advising Students of the College to respect the right and dignity of one another and show utmost restraint and patience whenever any occasion of rift arises.
• Advising All the Students to refrain from inciting Students against other Students, teachers and College administration
• Advising all staffs to be affectionate to the Students and not behave in a vindictive manner towards any of them for any reason.
• Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in and outside the institution. Any violation of ragging and disciplinary rules should be urgently brought to the notice of the Principal.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Committee deals with Grievances received in writing from the students about any of the following matters:
• Academic Matters: Related to the timely issue of duplicate Mark-sheets, Transfer Certificates, Conduct Certificates or other examination related matters.
• Financial Matters: Related to dues and payments for various items from the library, hostels etc,
• Other Matters: Related to certain misgivings about conditions of sanitation, preparation of food, availability of transport etc,
• The complaints will be attended promptly on receipt of written grievances from the Students.
• The cell formally will review all cases and will act accordingly as per the Management policy.
• The cell will give a report to the authority about the cases attended to and the number of pending cases, if any, which require direction and guidance from the higher authorities.
The Grievance Redressal Committee shall not entertain the following issues:
• Decisions of the Executive Council, Academic Council, Board of studies and other Administrative or Academic Committees constituted by the University.
• Decisions with regard to award of scholarship, fee concessions, medals, etc.
• Decisions made by the University with regard to disciplinary matters and misconduct.
• Decisions of the University about admissions in any courses offered by the Institute.
• Decisions by competent authority on assessment and examination result.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

FORMATION OF COMMITTEE
• Each university shall appoint an ombudsman for redressal of grievance of students under this regulation.
• The ombudsman shall be a person who as beedn a judge not below the rank of a district judge or a retired professor who has at least ten years experience as a professor.
• The ombudsman shall not, at the time of appointment during one year before such appointment,or in the course of his tenture as ombudsman.
• The ombudsman shall be a part time officer appointed for a peroid of three years or until he attains the age of seventy year,whichever is earlier from thr date he resume the office and may be reappointed for another one term in the same university.
• In case of colleges the vice chacellor of the affiliating univesity shall constitute a Grievance Redressal committee consisting of five members for an individual college or a group of colleges keeping in view the location of the colleges.

• Three senior teachers drawn from the affiliatig colleges on rotation basis to be nominated by the vice chancellor-member.
• A student represnting the colleges where the grievance ha s occurred to be nominated based on academic merit, by the concerned college –special invitee.

To ensure convenience in travelling for its students and faculty, BGS Institute of Technology has
constituted a Transport Committee. The bus service operates on all working days, at fixed timings.
.Establish and enforce transportation procedures, regulations and rules.

Anti-Ragging Committee
Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student”.
Functions of the Anti-Ragging Committee:
1. To monitor an undertaking in the prescribed format from the candidate concerned on anti- ragging at the time of admission.
2. To address the students and parents by the head of the institutions on anti-ragging committee.
3. To arrange to send letters to parents, guardians of the students at the end of the academic year for creation of awareness.
4. To form monitoring cells (Anti-ragging squad’s faculties for surprise raids).
5. To suggest measures to tighten the security.
Objectives:
1. To aware the students of dehumanizing effect of ragging inherent in its perversity.
2. To keep a continuous watch and vigil over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.
3. To promptly and stringently deal with the incidents of ragging brought to our notice.
4. To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear message that no act of ragging shall be tolerated and any act of ragging shall not go unnoticed and unpunished.
5. Anti-Ragging Policy-Ragging is strictly banned in BGSIT.
6. If anybody found indulging in such activities, strict action will be taken irrespective of the extent.
7. To prevent ragging in the College and also take proper action against those whose are indulging into it.
8. To root out ragging in all its forms from the institution by prohibiting it by law and preventing its occurrence by following the provisions of the Regulations of Supreme Court and UGC.
9. Spell out suitable punishments to those found guilty
Responsibilities:
1. To ensure compliance with the regulations as well as the provisions of any law currently in force concerning ragging and directions of the VTU.
2. To monitor and oversee the performance of the Anti-Ragging Squad in prevention of ragging in the University.
3. To publicize to all students and prevalent directives and the actions that can be taken against those indulging in ragging;
4. To consider the complaints received from the students and conduct enquiry and submit report to the Anti- Ragging Committee along with punishment recommended for the offenders;
5. Oversee the procedure of obtaining undertaking from the students in accordance with the provisions;
6. Conduct workshops against ragging menace and orient the students;
7. To provide students the information pertaining to contact address and telephone numbers of the person(s) identified to receive complaints/distresscalls;
8. To offer services of counseling and create awareness to the students;
9. To take all necessary measures for prevention of ragging inside the Campus/Hostels

Canteen Committee
BGSIT has well established canteen in the campus. It forms the junction of the students from
different streams / courses. It makes all edible items available to the students and faculty
members as per their requirement. The environment of the canteen should clean and hygienic.
The rates charged for various items of food are checked and approved by the college
administration. Canteen is open on working days from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
A canteen committee is responsible for monitoring the operations of the canteen and
implementing and reviewing the canteen policy. They may also be responsible for specific
decisions as specified in the canteen policy, such as employing staff, authorizing major purchases
or authorizing changes in the menu. A canteen committee is a proven way to give the canteen
enough autonomy to operate as a business while maintaining strong connections with the

Responsibilities:
• Provide overall guidance to the peer group in integrating /mainstreaming gender in all activities of the Institution in the form of focused group discussions, debates, poster competitions etc.
• Engage a variety of stakeholders from the school, college, civil society organizations, women’s groups and media in gender mainstreaming activities.
• Identify gaps in school/college’s activities vis-à-vis gender, and make recommendations on how to address these gaps, e.g., observe classrooms to detect bias in interactions.

• Signing MOU’s with industry and Institutes. Setting up of technology parks in collaboration with alumni and industry for cost effective opportunity for R&D leading to marketable products.

Yoga Club:
Yoga is a path of spiritual enquiry directed to an objective understanding of life and living. Over
the years, yoga has also evolved into a science of Health and Healing. Yoga club spreads
awareness about yoga among students as well as staff members since yoga is all in one technique.
The club conducts various yoga activities for students and staff members to develop their body
and mind on conscious and sub-conscious levels. We actively work on yoga principles and try to
find a ray of wisdom which brings-in real happiness and inner peace in our hearts.
Vision:
To provide yoga education to equip oneself with basic knowledge about one’s personality, to
learn to handle oneself well in all life situations, to learn techniques of gaining good health, to
develop a discriminative mind capable of knowing the real from the unreal and to face the

CULTURAL CLUB:
The main objective of the club is to bring about a voluntary change in the students. For this
purpose, the teachers and management provide facilities to achieve the desired changes or to
make the suitable choices.
The objectives of the Cultural Club:
.There is abundance of cultural talent in the college premises and the Cultural club
provides platform for those talents to flourish.
.Promote opportunities for everyone to experience culture, participate in educational
programs and develop their creative abilities.
.Promote quality and artistic renewal.
.To help the students to know them self-better their interests, abilities, aptitudes and
opportunities.
.To encourage and develop special abilities and right attitudes.
Responsibilities:
1. The Cultural Club shall be responsible for all intra and inter collegiate cultural events in
the College.
2. To plan and schedule cultural events for the academic year. (Tentative dates to be
included in the academic calendar of the institute.)
3. To prepare budget for all cultural events and take necessary steps for its approval.
4. The Convener of the club shall conduct a meeting of the club to discuss and delegate task.
5.Procedure to organize cultural events:
.To prepare the Annual Budget for various cultural event.
.To obtain formal permission from the College authorities to arrange program.
.To decide the date, time and agenda of the program.
.To inform members of staff and students about the event.
.To arrange the venue and logistics (audio/video system, dais, podium etc.)
.To invite the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.
.To arrange mementos for guests and gifts/certificates for the participants.

celebrate.
